With our very first Eroica South Africa being such a huge success, we are already planning on growing our event for 2017. Sign up to our newsletter, or keep an eye out for our dates for next year, and come celebrate vintage Italian road cycling culture with us - bring your classic racing bicycles, and come ride with us through the beautiful Karoo around the dirt roads North of Montagu in the Western Cape. Of course there will be great food and wine, and lots of old bicycles to lust over. With South Africa's rich cycling history, we’re proud to have this celebrated Italian event honoured on African soil.

WE ARE ALREADY PREPARING FOR EROICA SOUTH AFRICA 2017
The original L’Eroica was imagined in 1997 by Giancarlo Brocci, who through his admiration of the values of the cycle races of old, wanted to reconnect others to the integrity, history and sense of familial celebration cycling used to offer. Today Giancarlo's tradition continues, and through the International Eroica events we're helping people rediscover the great history and the physical challenge of the sport that we so love. Giancarlo says it so beautifully, “We want people to rediscover the beauty of fatigue and the thrill of the conquest”.

Eroica draws its inspiration from classical cycling - the black and white photographs sensationalizing the early great races, to the idolizing of the heroes of the sport like Bartali, Coppi and Merckx. From the earliest fixed-gear or single speed racing bikes, to the 1980s speed machines captures the soul of the Eroica bike, but 1987 is where we draw the line between classic cycling and modern racing. Since there simply aren't that many of these classic bicycles in South Africa, there is a slight concession made for our local event here.
